New Courses At Khalsa College

New Delhi: Khalsa College, affiliated to Delhi University (DU), has launched a new course in ‘Sports Economics and Marketing’. The programme has been introduced to meet the immediate requirement for trained professionals in the area of sports management, for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, which are to be hosted by India.
 
The college has also started a three-month certificate course in web journalism. The course curriculum will include blogging, journalistic writing for the internet, packaging, designing, and cross media options, to mention a few. The course is a blend of theory and practical aspects, which aims to equip students with skills to produce online articles, audio and video by using multimedia packages.
 
Smita Mishra, Course Coordinator - Khalsa College, said that the course on ‘Sports Economics and Marketing’ is a first-of-its-kind course, which presents basic concepts of sports economics and marketing. It is designed to introduce business majors to the rapidly expanding sports and leisure related industry. She also added that the course will not only provide insights into the managerial and economic aspects of sports, but will also focus on international broadcasting rights, brand endorsement, and so on. Study and analysis of case studies will be a part of the course.
 
The newly launched sports management programme is open for students as well as working professionals. To be eligible for the course, one must have passed Higher Secondary and should be pursuing graduation, in any stream. Admission will be done on first-come-first-serve basis. If the number of applicants is large, the college will conduct an entrance examination or interview to select deserving candidates. The courses fee is Rs 9,990. The last date for applying to both the courses is September 15, 2009.
