Delhi University (DU) introduced new courses for the specially abled students from the upcoming session 2009-10.

New Courses Introduced at DU for Specially Abled Students

New Delhi: Delhi University - National Thermal Power Corporation (DU-NTPC) resource centre will soon launch new certificate course in news reading, anchoring and voice over the for the specially abled students. DU introduced these programmes in order to boost up their level of confidence.
 
Considering the fact that media is a booming industry, and there is no dearth of jobs in this sector the university introduced these media related programmes. According to Komal Kamra, Faculty at S.G.T.B. Khalsa College, also associated with the Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) of the DU, said that last year there was a huge demand for media courses when DU-NTPC centre organized short-term courses in sign language interpretation, communicative English, information & communication technology and disability & human rights.
 
Moreover, a special orientation programme was organized on Tuesday for the physically handicapped students, admitted in several undergraduate courses for this academic year. Chandra Nisha Singh, EOC Officer on Special Duty said that signers or interpreters could be provided by the University to the hearing impaired students if they wish to.
