Book Donation Camp at Jamia Commences Today

New Delhi: The two-day book donation camp at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) will commence today, i.e. from August 10, 2010 at 9.00 am in the University campus in collaboration with the Youth Empowerment Services NGO.

According to the statement of an official, the aim of the programme is to encourage the members of the university community to donate old and unused books to those in the neighbourhood who are unable to afford them. In addition, the objective is to generate a spirit of volunteerism as also to empower others.

As part of the programme, the student volunteers would set up three stalls at the main gates of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, the Main University Campus, and the Jamia School. The books collected at these centres would be distributed among the poor and needy people. Moreover, some books will also be donated to community libraries around the University.
