DU Admission Session is Likely to Commence Early this Year

New Delhi: This year onwardsthe admission session at Delhi University (DU) for undergraduate degree level course is likely to commence early. The admission process would start as early as in May and end before August. Moreover, it is a move to help facilitate introduction of semester system by the university. Usually, the enrollment procedure starts in June after the declaration of the Board results and ends in September.
 
As per sources, the admission committee of the university will decide on the admission dates in its meeting to be held by February end. However, a final decision on the admission dates are yet to be taken, the admission process and the sale of the forms may start as early as May. This implies that the admission procedure will start a week or so before the declaration of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) results.
 
S K Vij, Dean of Students Welfare has made the announcement that nothing can be said for certain but if the semester system is implemented this year, the admission for 2010-2011 academic session will have to be pre-poned. Therefore, the university will have to start the admission process in May. He also added that whether that will happen before the declaration of the board results or after that will be decided at the admission committee meeting.
 

Further, as per the new admission schedule, the process is expected to be completed by July 31, 2010. As a result, this would allow the first semester of the academic year to begin from August. The sale of forms will probably start in May and their submission in June. Moreover, the form submission period is expected to be a 10-day affair instead of the earlier 15 days.
