Five IIM-C Students Offered Salary Over Rs 1 Crore

Kolkata: Five students of Indian Institutes Management – Calcutta (IIM-C), have bagged packages in excess of Rs 1 crore. Of total five, three of these are confirmed, according to sources, another two are also likely to be in the Rs 1-crore-plus bracket. While the first three offers are PPOs (pre-placement offers), the last two have been made on campus during Slot Zero, also by companies in the financial space.
 
As per sources, a UK-based investment bank has made the highest offer on campus, an amount as hefty as $350,000 (Rs 1.6 crore) package, for its South-East Asia desk. Followed by the next two offers which is believed to be in the region of Rs 1.2-1.4 crore, made by an US-based investment bank, for its South-East Asia desk. Furthermore, the action seems to be moving towards South-East Asia, especially Hong Kong and Singapore, with the fourth and fifth contenders to the Rs 1-crore-plus club also having bagged jobs in that region.
 

Overall, this year, salaries are up by 20-25%, compared to last year with, as per information provided by the placement sources. However, officials refused to confirm the figures. IIM-C, which kicked off its final placements on Saturday, was close to wrapping up the entire process for its 280-strong batch on Wednesday, the first day of its Slot Two, at the time of filing this report. In Slot Zero alone, saw as many as 91 offers, excluding PPOs. At the time of filing the report, the institute had a total of over 300 offers with some students having more than one offer.
