IGNOU Organizes Workshop on Bilingual Dictionaries

New Delhi: Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOU) School of Foreign Languages organized a workshop of scholars in Indian languages, commencing form March 8, 2010. The five day workshop is conducted as a step forward to create bilingual dictionaries on French to Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Bengali, Asamese and Santhali. Scholars, who also teach French, have participated in this workshop, which has flagged off from today in this campus. Moreover, its inaugural ceremony was telecasted live with the help of video conferencing.
 
Prof V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, IGNOU's Vice-Chancellor (VC) is expected to preside over the inaugural function, while French professor Ms. Monique Slodzian will deliver the keynote address. Ms. Slodzian will also be joined by three veteran academics in foreign language mechanics to develop the lexicography in the languages. On the concluding day i.e. on Friday March 12, 2010, there will be a round table discussion towards its end.
