Girls Surpass Boys in CBSE Class 12 Exam

New Delhi: Girls surpass boys in the Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) Class 12 exams, whose results were declared today, i.e. on May 23, 2011. The pass percentage of girls is 86.93, while that of boys it is 77.83%. The announcement was made by a CBSE spokesperson.
 
The spokesperson also added that Chennai region chalked up the highest pass percentage of 91.32%. He added that Chennai was followed by Ajmer with 85.5 percent, while Delhi stood third with a pass percentage of 85.45 percent. As per sources, to the CBSE, very few students got compartments this year only 10.67 % as compared to 11.07 % registered in the year 2010.
 
Sources have informed that the total number of candidates who appeared this year was 7,70,043, which was 9.85 % more than last year. The overall pass percentage also registered an increase of 1.84 % over 2010 and stood at 81.71 %. The pass percentage of government schools in Delhi is 87.48 percent, while private schools scored somewhat better at 89.71 percent.
