IGNOU Creates Awareness About e-literacy Benefits

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) organized a day-long session in order to create awareness about information technology (IT) and its usefulness in the all walks of life. It was conducted on Monday i.e. on July 25, 2011.
 
The session was organized in association with the ministry of human resource development's Human Resource Development Division and the ministry of communication and information technology. According to a University official the purpose is to improve the use of IT in areas of a citizen's interest by adopting simple and commonly used practices and methods.
 
Furthermore, the Official mentioned that IGNOU's 3,000 study centres and tele-centres, district and block level centres of the ministry of human resource development, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan, and rural development programmes could be used for spreading the IT awareness.  
 
V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, IGNOU Vice chancellor (VC) said that the University has chalked out an action plan, which involves participants from all over the nation for a brainstorming session on IT mass literacy.
