New Delhi: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced diploma and a certificate course in Chinese language, from the session commencing from July 2011. The announcement regarding the introduction of the course was made by an official on Thursday i.e. on July 7, 2011.
The newly launched diploma course in Chinese language will be offered in both face-to-face and online mode. On the other hand, the certificate course would be offered only via online mode. According to the statement issued by the IGNOU official, this is for the first time in India that the teaching of Chinese language and culture will be imparted through online demonstration, via IGNOU satellite.
The official mentioned that the programmes are basically designed for the business schools, while the study materials, teaching and examinations will be conducted through online mode. Moreover, the official informed that students scoring 80% or above in final exam will be considered for undergoing further training in Chinese universities in China.
Furthermore, the official added that the course also aims to train learners about the basic culture of China, by introducing China's political system, economy and general knowledge of the country.
