New Delhi: Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOUs) School of Agriculture has launched a new course in food science and technology. The newly launched postgraduate degree level will be commencing from July, this year.
Initially, the course will commence with an intake of 25 students. Students will be selected on merit basis for admission and will also go through one-month internship for hands-on training.
According to a statement issued by IGNOU official, the course will offer information and technical competencies in order to deal with the emerging issue of processing, product development, food safety, marketing, export and sustainable use of resources. He also added that the technicians, managers, food industry professionals and technologists can also join the programme.
Furthermore, he also informed that this programme will train the students for jobs such as production and marketing executives in food production industries, food safety officers in government regulatory bodies and entrepreneurs in dairy, meat, fruits and vegetables processing set-ups.
