IIM-A Offers Investment Tips to Students

Ahmedabad: On October 9, 2011 (Sunday), students of various b-schools across the nation got tips on smart investments from the president of corporate banking at Axis Bank - Nilesh Shah at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A).
 
As per sources, Mr Shah conversed with the participants of the final competition event of 'EXCHEQUER 2011', a financial services competition organized by IIM-A. Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, students won the first prize and were honored with the title of 'Wizards of Finance'. While the runners-up prize was given to the students of Indian Institute of Management, Indore.
 
Furthermore, Shah has also mentioned that equity investments should be done not just by using valuation models through excel sheets, but by thorough fundamental analysis of the company's management. He said while distinguishing between trading and investment that trading is like flirting in a relationship while investment is like a marriage, a long-term plan. He also suggested to be clear about whether one is a trader or an investor.
