Ahmedabad: On Monday i.e. on September 26, 2011, the Indian Institute of Management – Ahmedabad (IIM-A) introduced a Hindi version of the institute's website. IIM-A is the first institute to come up with such a distinct idea among all the 13 IIMs.
The newly launched web portal in Hindi is similar to the English version in terms of content as well as positioning of links. The new web portal has been introduced as part of the ongoing Hindi fortnight or Hindi Pakhvada celebration, scheduled from September 14 to 29. The dean of faculty at IIM-A, B.H. Jajoo launched the website at the institute's campus. Every year, this fortnight is observed for the implementation of the official language policy of the government of India.
Professor and chairperson of the institute's Official Language Implementation Committee, Anand Kumar Jaiswal said that IIM-A has become the first management institute in the nation to officially launch its website in Hindi. He also added that it is expected that with the launch of the Hindi website, more people would have access to information on IIM-A's programmes and activities. In addition, the other events that are being organized at IIM-A as part of the Hindi fortnight include book exhibition and competitions, like essay writing, poem recitation, vocabulary, debate and so on, in Hindi.
