Ahmedabad: The summer placement at Indian Institute of Management – Ahmedabad (IIM-A) will commence from November 11, 2011.
With the fast approaching placement season, it is anticipated that the recession in the USA and European market is likely to affect the most of b-schools.However, the students as well as the faculty at IIM-A are optimistic about good offers in the upcoming summer placement session.
As per sources, IIM-A has announced plans for the summer placements for the 20010-2012 batch, in order to encourage best of the recruiters. Prof Saral Mukherjee, IIM-A placement cell chairman, has said that as of now they are not witnessing any negative impact or decrease in number of offers.
Mukherjee, however, believes that the impact of economic chaos will be evident only at the time of summer placement. He added that if there is any negative impact, summer placement will witness a decrease in offers from recruiters or in number of recruiters.
Furthermore, IIM-A Director Prof Samir Barua, said if the circumstances remain the same in the US and Europe, India would not be immune to its impact and the placement season in 2012 would be effected.
