IIM-A To Organize ‘Publisher’s Training Programme’

Ahmedabad: Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) will organize a five-day “Publisher’s Training Programme” jointly with the German Book Office, which will look at various avenues of publishing from marketing and retail to digital technologies and IPR. Moreover, half the teachers for the course are not IIM-A faculty.

IIM-A will host 30 executives of Indian publishing houses next week. This is done with an objective to prepare them about the sector that is projected to be growing at 30 % a year in India, but for which there is “absolutely no genuine data available”.

H Anil Kumar, the course head who is also IIM-A’s librarian, has said the 30 seats were filled up “long ago” and requests for a next programme had been got, but the institute is anxious to first see how the first programme goes. In a separate statement the German Book Office, has said that the next course is already in demand and we will be announcing details shortly.
