Over Two Lakh Aspirants to Take CAT 2011

New Delhi: More than two lakh students who aspire to get into IIMs will take the Common Admission Test (CAT), this year. CAT 2011 exam will commence from October 22, 2011 and will continue till November 18, 2011.

The exam will be conducted by Prometric across all Prometric centres in India. As per sources, last year, around 2.04 lakh students registered their candidature for CAT 2010; this year the number has gone up by 1000.

Moreover, CAT 2011 has included some changes in its centres, pattern, and time duration. This year, three more cities namely Dehradun, Jammu, and Bhilai, have been added to its centres list. In addition, from this year, CAT will have only two sections instead of three with a time limit of 70 minutes allotted for each section.

Other than CAT, students will also appear for other management examinations like NMAT (NMIMS Management Aptitude Test), IIFT (Indian Institute of Foreign Trade), and XAT (Xavier’s Admission Test). However, Delhi University’s Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) will select candidates on the basis of CAT score.
