New Delhi: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Vice Chancellor, Prof. V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai has made the announcement that admissions for the B Tech programme at the university has been put on hold for, the time being.
The decision was taken by IGNOU, following an apprehension raised over engineering programmes through distance education, by the Union Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
As per sources, the issue has not been resolved so far into an official decision. Recently, the faculty members of the School of Engineering and Technology held a meeting to decide that till the issue is resolved with the MHRD and AICTE, the admissions to the course will be postponed.
