Aligarh: The Department of Mass Communication, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has started the procedure for the modernization of classroom teaching in the department, by organizing a two-day practical workshop to learn efficient class room technology. The Department has started this process after the University’s Vice Chancellor urged for high tech class rooms. The two-day workshop ended on Wednesday i.e. July 7, 2010.
Prof. N.A.K. Durrani, Chairman of the Department of Mass Communication, said that for the very first time in the University, a department has used smart board as a part of efficient class room technology as well as teach right use of the new technology to the faculty members, by organizing the workshop.
He further hopes that the new class room technology will be used in the current session. It will help in bringing innovative technology in class room and make learning easy for students.
During the teaching exercise on the computer driven board in the University’s Department of Mass Communication, all the teachers of the department were present, including Shafey Kidwai, Afrina Rizvi, Gopal Krishna Sahu, Pitabas Pradhan and the Chairman N.A.K. Durrani.
By using this smart class room technology, teacher can access ‘magic’ pen on big computer screen along with various colors, fonts width and zoom in and out of the text facilities. Moreover, files can be saved and cameras can also be used in it. Among the other features of the interactive board are the facilities of video, audio and power point presentations. Internet can be accessed and pages can be saved and modified.
