BITS Pilani Students Nominated for Aditya Birla Group Scholarship 2010

New Delhi: Four first year students from the renowned Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, have been nominated for the Aditya Birla Group Scholarship 2010. Miss Ankita Sarda and Mr Shuja Shabir (BE - Computer Science) and Mr Vaibhav Grewal and Mr Prakash Singh (BE- Electrical and Electronics Engineering) are selected for the prestigious award.
 
These four students are among the 23 bright students chosen for this year’s award. The event took place in ITC Grand Central, Parel, Mumbai, on September 18, 2010. During the event of the total 23 scholarships awarded this year, 11 scholarships were given to Science/Technology category which includes different IITs and BITS and 12 were given to the IIMs. Among the Science/Technology category institutions, BITS bagged the highest number of awards this year.
 
The Aditya Birla Scholarship, which is offered to meritorious students of IITS, IIMs and BITS Pilani every year, includes the academic fees as well as the hostel fees for the duration of the course, commencing with the academic session of the first year. The scholars are assessed frequently on qualitative and quantitative factors to evaluate their performance on the academic achievement and leadership.
 
The panel of judges consisted of the eminent names such as Mr Rajat Gupta, Director, McKinsey & Company, Prof R V Hosur, Director, Department of Atomic Energy’s Center for Excellence in Basic Science, Prof Deepak Mathur, Senior Professor, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, Mr R Balakrishnan, Managing Director, Lowe Lintas, Mumbai, Mr B K Chaturvedi, Member, Planning Commission, Mr T N Ninan, Editor and Chairman, Business Standard and Dr Rajiv Kumar, Director, Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, New Delhi.
