New Delhi: On March 10, 2010,Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), the world's largest Open University, and NIIT, the global IT solutions provider, collaborated for a 'Global Partnership in Education and Skill Building for Enhanced Employability'. Prof V N Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU, and Rajendra S Pawar, Chairman, NIIT, made the announcement about the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on this partnership.
The MoU would offer students with dual benefit - one of having a degree and the other of getting professional training, which would develop their chances of employability in the market. Moreover, the IGNOU-NIIT joint venture intends at initiating the procedure for developing a pool of industry-ready expert by bringing together higher education and skill building. Under the partnership, IGNOU and NIIT plan to collaborate in domains like Information Technology and Management Sciences for its India and international operations.
During the occasion, Prof Pillai said that with the collaboration, more people look up to IGNOU to get customized education, which is internationally viable. Gradually, they found their education rather lauded both for employability as well as intellectual recluse. Presently, students pursue IGNOU’s education in a system of learning process. He also added that this global partnership with NIIT will enable students to acquire employable skills for the domestic as well as global markets. Further, this would improve the quality of education as well as it would improve the teaching process.
