New Delhi: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a new postgraduate (PG) diploma programme in adult education namely Participatory Adult Learning Documentation and Information Networking (PGDAE). As per sources, the newly launched one year PGDAE programme would be offered in collaboration with UNESCO and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
According to the statement of an IGNOU official the innovative programme aims at promoting professional development and capacity building in the area of adult education with a focus on participatory adult learning, documentation and information networking. Also, the PGDAE programme is open to all bachelor's degree holders and personnel already working or involved in adult education, like functionaries of different programmes of literacy and adult education, staff of directorates of adult/mass education, state resource centres, community colleges and others.
Further, the holders of this diploma would be eligible for employment in projects implemented by the central or state governments, universities, colleges and NGOs, amongst others. The course fee of the one year postgraduate (PG) diploma programme to be taught in English is Rs 5000. Admission to newly launched PGDAE is open from July 2010 session.
