New Delhi: On January 11, 2010, at Raj Ghat, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) along with Gandhi Smriti & Darshan Samiti (GSDS) and UNESCO would jointly organize a three-day international conference on Conflict Management, Peace Economics and Peace Science”.
The conference is being conducted in collaboration with US-based Economists for Peace and Security International, Binghamton University (State University of New York, US), and International Center for Conflict Prevention and Management, Sydney.
As per sources,well-known scholars from renowned universities from around the world, including at least four Nobel laureates, would deliver speech on various theories of peace management, peace science and peace economics, with a view to take progressive and pro-poor public service policies, and rational approach to conflict management.
D. Gopal, Prof of Political Science in IGNOU and coordinator of Gandhian Studies programme, said that the international conference is likely to offer and conceptualize a global platform to discuss the economic, environmental and peace issues which are afflicting today's society. He further added that it also aims to show up the popular beliefs in the ruling economic, technological and political paradigms.
