IGNOU Students to Get Concession in Rail Tickets

New Delhi: Good news for students pursing on-campus programmes at India Gandhi National Open University! On Wednesday i.e. February 24, 2010, V N Rajasekharan Pillai, IGNOU Vice Chancellor (VC), has made the announcement that on-campus students of IGNOU will get concessional fares for train travel anywhere in the country. He also mentioned that the move will positively impact enrolment in the next admission beginning July 2010.
 

Mr Pillai said that therailway Board has agreed to give train travel concession with immediate effect to face-to-face programmes, to the students of IGNOU, and this will place them on par with their counterparts of other central universities.

Further, he added that efforts are also on to extend the bus pass facility by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) to IGNOU on-campus students. Presently, the university runs 21 face-to-face programmes under various schools in its Maidan Garhi campus in south Delhi.
