IGNOU to Introduce Digital Library

New Delhi: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) on Tuesday i.e. Februray 23, 2010, has made the announcement that in its efforts to make learning a flawless process, it will introduce digital libraries. As per sources, the announcement was done during the inauguration of an international conference by Human Resources Development Minister (HRD) Kapil Sibal. Nearly 400 delegates from several countries are participating in the conference, which is also co-hosted by R.K. Pachauri-led The Energy and Research Institute (TERI).
 
During the next three days, the delegates will debate over several issues related to digital library and come up with a set of recommendations on this field. Sudhir Arora, Chief Librarian of IGNOU, said that with open and distance learning increasingly becoming popular, the University is trying to bring in a set of recommendations by experts from across the world to make learning a smooth process. Inaugurating the conference late Tuesday evening, Human Resource Development Minister Mr Sibal added that there is need to develop software, which will help in filtering relevant data in the sea of information. Further, according to him, this will benefit researchers looking for specific data.
