New Delhi: From this academic session,Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will launch a six-month certificate programme in water harvesting in order to teach people the methods of water harvesting, according to a university press release on Thursday, i.e. June 10, 2010.
The course fee will be Rs 1,600 and is open to anyone who has passed tenth standard. IGNOU’s main propose behind launching such a programme is to sensitize and educate learners on augmentation and utilization of water resources. In addition, it aims at imparting necessary skills and expertise to understand water harvesting techniques.
Sanjeev Pandey, Coordinator of the Programme has said that to train people in handling the acute problem of water crisis particularly in urban areas, the university is offering a six-month certificate programme in Water Harvesting. He also added that the programme will generate mass awareness and dissemination of skills through trained human resources.
