New Delhi: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is likely to set up a Centre for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA). The centre will be set up in order to ensure quality in open and distance learning education system in the country.
V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai IGNOU's Distance Education Council (DEC) Chairman has said that the move has been initiated in order to augment quality-related activities and introduce effective accreditation and audit practice, to develop self accountability in the system.
Further, Mr Pillai, who is also the Vice Chancellor, mentioned that the draft for setting up CIQA had been prepared in consultation with all the state open universities. He also added that DEC has developed various guidelines, norms and policies. He added that they have provided facilities for strengthening the academic capabilities of distance learning institutions.
