IIM-Ahmedabad Adhere To OBC Quota For Enrollment This Year

Ahmedabad: This year,Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmadabadhas started a new trend as adhered to OBC quota, for its enrollment.  IIM A has fulfilled its capacity of intake of students from OBC category. This initiative has been in accordance with the recommendations of the IIM Review Committee, headed by RC Bhargava, which had asked IIM-A, IIM-B and IIM-C to increase their intake by 2011.
 
According to a statement issued by an IIM-A official, a total of 104 students under the non creamy layer of OBC will be selected for the PGP programme. Diptesh Ghosh, Professor in-charge of PGP admissions, has said that full quota for OBC candidates have come into place from this batch. The total intake of students is 385.  
 
IIM-A has put into practice the 27 per cent OBC quota in a phased manner. In the first year of its implementation, IIM-A reserved six per cent seats for OBCs and an overall increase of 12 per cent in seats was done the next year.
