IIM Calcutta Announces a Whopping Increase in its Fee Structure

Kolkata: The elite management institute,Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta announces a whopping increase in its fee structure for its flagship programme. The two-year Postgraduate Diploma Management (PGDM) Programme will now cost Rs 13.5 lakh. IIM C has increased the fee from Rs 9 lakh to Rs 13.5 lakh, a steep increase of Rs 4.5 lakh
 
IIM C has also has reduced its intake of students citing lack of infrastructure. The total number of seats has been reduced by 31- from 406 to 375 - for the session 2010-12. The number of seats were supposed to reach 462. As per sources, the announcement was made on Saturday i.e. on April 3, 2010, at the 45th convocation of the institute.

Ajit Balakrishnan, Board Chairman has said that this is the first time that the institution has decided to decrease the strength of a batch from the previous year's figure. He also added that the hike was necessary to cope with the increased expenditure in infrastructure, greater faculty allocation and spending in research related activities.
