Kolkata: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta is ready to celebrate its golden jubilee on November 14, 2010. IIM Calcutta was the first IIM in the country. As per a press statement issued by the institute, the celebration will begin with a three-day event, which will commence from November 14, 2010 and continue till November 16, 2010.
Further, the press statement said that the Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta, the first institute in the IIM system will enter the 50th year of its journey on November 14, 2010. Moreover, the statement said that IIM-Calcutta being the first institution in the IIM system, Nov 14, 2010 also marks the golden jubilee of the IIM system. In addition, the statement told that the institute is planning to celebrate the golden jubilee of the institute and IIM system over a period of two years, during November 14, 2010-November 14, 2012.
As per sources, the three-day event will include a two-day conference on Management Education in India. Further, sources told that the directors of all the IIMs and renowned management schools in India and the world, noted academicians and industry leaders, IIM-Calcutta professors and alumni would deliberate on important issues and challenges facing the management schools in India and the way forward.
