Ahmedabad: Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have declared the second phase of the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2009, which is scheduled to be conducted on January 30-31, 2010. It is being conducted for those candidates who faced disruptions during the test, and finally could not complete the test. The candidates identified for the re-test in phase two would receive communication from Prometric by January 10, 2010.
According to the statement of an official of the CAT Committee, equity and fairness requires that candidates who faced disruptions during the test should be given an opportunity to complete the test, while those who have completed the test successfully are not required to appear in the test again. Also, IIMs have arrived on a criterion to decide which student must be allowed to re-appear in the examination.
He further added that the criteria has been arrived based on the analysis of calls and emails received from the candidates, site reports filed by the site managers, computer logs, and information gathered from websites and blogs. The rescheduling and the psychometric equivalences that will be established across the test address all issues of equity and fairness raised in various forums.
