Mumbai: Institute of Technology's Joint Entrance Exam (IIT-JEE) 2010 excludes Kota from the list of cities where the exam takes place every year. For several years, the IITs have been conducting JEEs in around 8 centers in Kota, where thousands of students appeared for the examination.
According to IIT officials who wished to remain off the record, the reason for canceling all examination centers in Kota this year was due to sensitive security issues.
As per sources, the decision was taken after an incident during last year's test, when the head of a prestigious and popular coaching institute had entered the exam venue ten minutes before the exam was about to start.
Furthermore, a faculty member who was on the IIT-JEE duty list last year stated that this head of the coaching center was seen by several parents entering from the main entrance of the exam hall and coming out of the back gate.
