IIT Students Deny To Sign Bonds with Recruiters

Mumbai: This year, engineering graduates form the Indian Institutes ofTechnology (IIT) have denied signing bonds with firms offering jobs during campus recruitments.

The engineering graduates have now denied accepting the job offers that tie them down to an organization by way of bonds that they are made to sign. The reason behind the refusal is that they want more choice and liberty to move around the job market.

As per sources, firms that recruit engineering students have followed suit with the trend. At IIT-Bombay, ninety percent of recruiters are not making students sign bonds in order to work for them. Similarly, both domestic and international organizations are participating in the recruitment procedures at all IITs, without the mandate of making graduates sign agreements with them for working with them.

According to a statement issued by Academic Affairs Secretary of IIT-Madras, most candidates these days are not willing to sign any bonds. He also mentioned that they have informed the recruiters that they would be required to incentivise students to make them work for them.

Earlier, recruiting firms insisted that students willing to work for them are required to sign a commitment to remain with the company in return for the intensive training that the company offers them. Presently, most engineering graduates now look down on such agreement that holds them back in any way.

At IIT-Bombay, companies that had insisted on students signing agreement with them have been politely refused from partaking in the recruitment procedure.
