New Delhi: The rescheduled All India Engineering Entrance Test (AIEEE) was held today, i.e. on May 11, 2011. The exam was rescheduled after the paper was leaked on May 1. The AIEEE retest was conducted from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm across 39 cities in the paper-pen format.
Around 34,000 candidates appeared the AIEEE retest. The retest was conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) only for students who had been unable to appear for the test after it had been delayed about three hours due to the paper leak. CBSE conducts AIEEE for selecting students for admission into National Institutes of Technology (NIT), Indian Institutes of Information Technology, deemed universities and several other institutions that offer engineering and architecture courses.
AIEEE 2011 was originally scheduled to be held on May 1, 2011. Due to the question paper leak in Lucknow, the test had been postponed by three hours. Though, the test was delayed by three hours, but several students were unable to appear for the postponed test that day as their timings either clashed with other tests or the centres were also reserved for other entrance tests.
