New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) has finally kept to its words! In an attempt to produce the results before the deadline given by the authorities, DU successfully announced the results of first semester exams on late Tuesday night i.e. December 28, 2011.
The first batch of results declared were those of B Com (Hons) first semester exam, of both the North and South Campus. Delhi University Exams Branch announced the results through the official website of the University. Candidates can follow their results by logging onto DU’s website: http://www.du.ac.in/.
Known for producing the examination results on delayed dates, DU has brought an end to the popular belief by declaring them on a short notice period of just three weeks, before the deadline i.e. December 31, 2011. The semester system was adopted by DU for all undergraduate courses from the academic session 2011-12, while 13 of them were shifted to the semester system in 2010 itself. The semester exams were successfully completed on December 7, 2011.
Dr DS Jaggi, Officer on Special Duty at Exam Branch, informed that the first semester results for other courses will be announced in the next two days. He further added that the results of Economics (Hons), Political Science (Hons), English (Hons), Arabic and Persian will be declared on December 29, 2011, while students who have appeared for courses in Philosophy, Sociology and History can check their results by December 30, 2011.
Satisfied with the performance of the entire team, Dinesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Delhi University, said that about 4000 teachers were hired to check the answer sheets of more than 4 lakh students. However, the panel had been under immense pressure to evaluate the answer sheets and produce the results on time. By doing so, they have created a record in declaring the results in time for the first time in the history of the University, he further told.
According to the statistics of B Com (Hons) results, over 80 percent of 7,000 students have successfully cleared all the papers. The Exam Branch officials further affirmed that all semester exam results will be out by December 31, 2011. Furthermore, the University has scheduled to start the classes for the second semester from January 2, 2012.
