New Delhi: Soon, the Delhi University (DU) will announce two more cut-off lists for students falling under the OBC category.
Sources have informed that this was stated in a directive issued by the university on Tuesday i.e. on July 12, 2011, and this has surpassed all other related orders. In total, DU has issued a five-point directive. The University has asked colleges to communicate to the registrar for fresh cut-offs, which will be exclusively for the OBC category and for those courses that have unfilled OBC seats. Besides, it is mentioned that the relaxation of marks stipulated for OBC candidates compared to general category aspirants is still less than 10%.
The sixth cut-off list for the OBC candidates will be notified by the registrar on Thursday. The admission and payment of fees will take place on July 15 and 16. Dinesh Singh, DU vice-chancellor, said that they have freeze conversions of the unoccupied seats, as an explanation on the issue is much awaited. Therefore, the colleges will continue accepting OBC candidates. Moreover, he mentioned that the full 10% relaxation has to be exhausted. DU will release a seventh cut-off only if OBC seats remain vacant and only for those courses in which the 10% relaxation has not yet been exhausted. As per sources, the list will be declared on July 17, and admission and payment of fees for the seventh cut-off list is scheduled to be held on 18 and 19.
Before DU issued the directive, a few colleges decided not to transform the seats to general category in order to balance out the surplus admission and end the admission process itself. However, these colleges will now have to keep the admission open for the OBC candidates, till July 19.
