IIT- D to Study Elephants Movement along Rail Tracks

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology - Delhi (IIT-Delhi) will conduct a study to scrutinize the movement of pachyderms.The institute will conduct the study as per the directives issued by railways after the incident of mounting elephant deaths on tracks.
 
Sources have informed that apart from setting up a coordination committee at railways' board and zonal level. It would also set up watch towers and have will make arrangement for better lightening facility in the 170-km stretch between New Jalpaiguiri and Alipurduar in West Bengal, where the casualty has been particularly high.
 
Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi said that they want to use technology to make sure that no animal is hurt on rail track. Furthermore, the ministry has already limited the speed of the trains to 50 kmph at four susceptible corridors.
