IIT-Delhi Nods for the Elevated Roads Project

Indian Institute of Technology - Delhi (IIT-Delhi) has given its approval for the first elevated ring road projects sprouting up in Noida city. The elevated road will run parallel above the Shahdara drain. It will not only end the congestion of Noida, but also reduce driving time into Delhi, Faridabad and Ghaziabad. The project was passed in the 173rd board meeting of the Noida Authority. However, it was awaiting the approval from the experts since the last two months. Planned to initiate in October this year, the Authority is currently working out the detailed project report and the final designs of the road.

The estimate cost of the project is Rs 525 crores. It will take 18 months to be completed. After its completion, the 5.8 km road will serve as a fast-access, signal-free passage for vehicles. Road will be constructed on stilts and each of the carriageways will be three-lane on either side. Traveling along the elevated road would mean cruise from Mayur Vihar to Kalindi Kunj, one of the busiest traffic passages, in a fraction of minute. Balwindar Kumar, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Noida, said that with this new elevated road in place, seamless traffic movement to and from Noida and Delhi will be possible.

This elevated road will offer a choice of a bypass around Noida. Yadav Singh, engineer-in-chief, Noida, informed that, currently, the alignment for the project is being worked out. Once the design is ready and the details finalized, the project is anticipated to be completed within 30 months from the date of operation. He also mentioned that starting from Chilla Regulator (Mayur Vihar) in Delhi to Kalindi Kunj located on the border of Noida and Faridabad, the Shahdara drain enters Noida city at sector 14, 14A and runs along sector 95 to drain out into the Yamuna River below the Kalindi Kunj Bridge. Along the way, the drain flows under bridges located at Udyog Marg, Master Plan-I road, Master Plan-II road and the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway link road. The elevated road project will follow this route.
