Kanpur: India Institute of Technology (IIT-Kanpur) has withheld theresults of30 students. Results of those 30 students withheld after an investigation has revealed that those students were found indulged in cheating during the IIT-JEE examination at a centre in Bhatinda.
Sources informed, after the charges were proved, that Gyani Jail Singh Engineering College in Bhatinda has been black-listed and three teachers, including the Centre in-charge, have been disqualified from partaking in any administrative work of IIT. Sanjeev Kashalakar, Registrar of IIT-Kanpur, has informed that the statutory body for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for 2011 has withheld results of 30 aspirants, who had appeared for the entrance examination at the college.
Also, it was reported that the students were given extra time to solve the paper. As per sources, the IIT administration has also formed a three-member committee in order to investigate into the matter in detail. The committee has been asked to submit its report by June 5, 2011. Mr Kashalakar has informed that results of all other candidates, however, will come on the scheduled date of May 25.
