IIT-Kanpur to Transfer `yan gyan' Technology to UP Roadways

Kanpur: Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-K) Director SG Dhande has said that the Uttar Pradesh (UP) state government is in consultation with Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-K), for the transfer of a technology developed by its students called `yan gyan' for the UP roadways department.

Dhande has explained that `yan gyan' is a technology to know the location of the long-distance buses plying in the state. He said that a passenger waiting for the roadways bus hardly knows where the vehicle is and at what time it will arrive. The `yan gyan' technology will enable a passenger to send an SMS to locate the position of the bus.

Furthermore, Dhande has also mentioned that talks in regard to the transfer of the technology are in its final phase. He said that as soon as the state government gives nod, the technology will be provided to the authorities of the UP state road transport corporation ( UPSRTC).

Also, he said that the zero toilet discharge system (ZTDS) developed by IIT-Kanpur has been successfully tested in two trains Jammu Tawi-Chennai Express and Lucknow-Chennai Express. He informed that the ZTDS has also been installed in `shikaras' in the Dal Jheel in Srinagar.
