New Delhi: This year,the Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University's enrollment session is flooded with applicants across the nation. The University has sold 114,244 forms for the approximately 7,000 seats available for admission for courses like management and engineering, which are the most sought after. The announcement was made Thursday i.e. on May 12, 2011 by a University official.
The official mentioned that the number of sold forms mentioned was till May 9, 2011. The seats are spread over 231 professional and non-professional courses in 36 departments and 17 centres of excellence and research. The official mentioned that it is an overwhelming response, as the last date of receiving completed application forms in many courses is over.
As per the records, a total 37,902 forms for management and engineering courses were sold by the University. However, the number of forms sold for teaching courses like B.Ed and ETE (Elementary Teachers Education) stood at 9,423. The number of forms sold for the University's mass communication course reached to a total of 1,493.
