Jamia Millia Delays Semester System by a Year

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University has delayed the implementation of semester system to undergraduate courses by a year. The semester system was initially planned to implement from the 2011-12 session.

According to the Media coordinator at JMI Simi Malhotra, the Master's, M. Phil and PhD courses had been modified last year, but the entire procedure had been very lengthy. Therefore, teachers need more time to restructure and revise the undergraduate level courses to merge them into the semester system.

JMI Vice Chancellor Najeeb Jung stated that it would be better to wait another year before implementing the semester system at the University. He further added that by keeping the view of smooth revision of the courses, the University has decided that the introduction of the semester system should wait for a year.
