Jamia to Offer Free IAS Coaching

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University will offer free coaching to minorities, SCs, STs and women aspirants of Civil Services 2011 Examination. To select the eligible students the Centre for Coaching and Career Planning at Jamia will conduct an all India entrance test, which is scheduled to be held on 11 September, 2011.
 
As per a press release issued by the University, the centre would offer free coaching and round the clock library and reading room facilities to the selected candidates. Also, aspirants will be offered free accommodation facility. Last year, more than 1200 students from across the country had appeared in its entrance test for 100 available seats.
 
In addition, the release also mentioned that the written test would include General Studies and CSAT (civil services aptitude test) (objective type) on UPSC model, and Essay writing in English/Hindi/Urdu in order to test candidate’s ability.
 
The coaching will include classes on General Studies, CSAT and selected optional papers like History, Public Administration, Political Science, Geography, Sociology, Urdu, Hindi, Persian and Arabic. The test series and assessment shall be carried out by faculty members of Jamia and other professionals. Essay writing practice too shall form part of the syllabus.
 
The centre has effectively tapped the best professional faculties of various subjects and has also regularly engaged its own internal faculty resources. Considering the changing nature of examination, the Centre is offering coaching for CSAT also, with a special focus on English language. The centre conducts regular tests to help the aspirants assess their capability.
 
Furthermore, the release also mentioned that the academy will also conduct Mock Interviews for selected candidates in the Main examination. The Centre is in the process of building a team of experts under the supervision of the Vice Chancellor, Mr. Najeeb Jung (IAS) for mock interviews, which will comprise IAS/IPS/IFS/IRS, former members of UPSC, heads of PSUs, senior journalists/columnists and academics.
