Department of Physics, University of Calcutta, also known as Calcutta University, Kolkata, West Bengal, has invited applications from eligible candidates for admission into PhD (Doctorate of Philosophy) in Physics programme, to be offered in the ensuing session 2012. Admission will be made on the basis of candidates' performance in the written test, followed by Personal Interview (PI), to be conducted by the University on the below mentioned date.
Note: Candidates, who have already qualified UGC / CSIR (JRF) Examinations NET / SET / SLET / GATE / Teacher Fellowship or passed M Phil / M Tech or equivalent examination, are exempted from appearing in the admission test. However, they have to appear in the interview.
Date of Exam
Entrance exam will be conducted on July 30, 2012 (12.00 pm to 1.00 pm)
Personal Interview (PI) of selected candidates will be held on 1 & 2 August, 2012 (11.00 am onwards)
How to Apply
Interested candidates may download the application form from the official website of the University: http://www.caluniv.ac.in/. In addition, an application fee of Rs 100 is to be paid by the candidates through Bank Challan (downloadable from the website). The duly filled-in application form or hard copy of the downloaded form complete in all respect along with the University’s copy of Bank Challan should be submitted at the Office, Department of Physics, University of Calcutta, Kolkata, West Bengal - 700 073, on or before July 26, 2012.
