University of Calcutta, Kolkata, West Bengal, has invited applications from eligible candidates for admission into PhD (Doctorate of Philosophy) programme in Genetics & Plant Breeding, to be offered in the ensuing session 2012. Admission will be made on the basis of candidates’ performance in the Research Eligibility Test (RET), scheduled to be held on the date mentioned below, followed by an interview, to be conducted by the University.
Note:
- Candidates who have qualified M Phil / NET / GATE / SLET / Teacher Fellowship do not have to appear for the RET (Research Eligibility Test). However, they should qualify in the interview to secure admission.
- Candidates appearing for the interview must submit a research proposal or Statement of Purpose (SOP) on the day of the interview.

Interested candidates should apply in the prescribed application format made available on the University’s official website: http://www.caluniv.ac.in/. The duly filled in application form, along with all requisite documents (details given on the website), should be submitted to the Head of Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Institute of Agricultural Studies, Calcutta University, latest by January 30, 2012.
