CBSE Agrees to Award Full Marks for Error Question in Class 12 Board Exam

New Delhi: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), has decided to award full marks for error question, in Engineering Graphics (EG) subject of class 12 board of exam 2012. The decision was finalized in a four day meeting on marking scheme with CBSE officials, held recently.
 
As per sources, the meeting came up with the conclusion, in order to make up with the errors carried in the question paper. A subject teacher, who attended the meeting, said that it came to the conclusion that all candidates should be given full marks ignoring the correctness of the answer.
 
In addition, the benefit of doubt will be given for sure to all those students who have put their time and energy in attempting this question. Therefore, the board has agreed to give full marks to those students who attempted question number 3 of the question paper, which was an error question that created confusion.
 
Sources informed that the question was actually related to assembly and disassembly of machine parts, in which the diagram and dimensions didn't match. The subject is an integral part of competitive exams for admission in architecture at undergraduate level. Many students are elated by this decision of the CBSE and feel that the decision will boost their morale for competitive exams.
 
Moreover, an official also said that the incident should serve as a wake up call for question paper setters as well as the board. The board's question paper of this subject has been carrying errors for past couple of years. Several complaints by parents and students have fallen on deaf ears. It was a wake up call and the board has decided to take precautionary measures from next year onwards, he added.
