New Delhi: University of Delhi, popularly known as Delhi University (DU), will conduct Combined Aptitude Test for English 2012, also known as CATE, on June 9, 2012. The entrance test is being organized for selecting candidates for admission into Bachelor of Arts (BA) Honors in English programme.
Confirming the news, Tapan Basu, Coordinator, CATE, said that a total of 21 colleges have given their consent for becoming a part of the test. Some popular colleges listed include Lady Shri Ram College, Kirori Mal College, Miranda House, Kamla Nehru College and Indraprastha College for Women. In addition, Satyawati College (Morning) has been added while Deshbandu College refused to follow the common test, this year.
Furthermore, in comparison to last year’s eligibility criteria, the admission council has announced some relaxation for this year’s session. As against the last season’s 60%, students from the general category should secure 45% marks in best of four subjects in Class 12.
Similarly, the minimum eligibility for OBC and physically challenged categories is 40.5% and 40%, respectively. However, students belonging to SC/ST category should obtain a mere pass in Class 12 examination. In addition to the eligibility criteria, the test to be conducted will be of two and a half hours’ duration, compared to last year’s two hours.
Application forms for the CATE 2012 can be availed from May 25, 2012 at all participating colleges. The same will be available and can be submitted till Jun 4, 2012.
