New Delhi: Teri University, New Delhi, has announced the inclusion of two year full-time MBA (Master of Business Administration) in Urban Management programme in its list of courses offered. The new programme will be offered to MBA aspirants from the session commencing in July 2012. The Energy and Resource Institute of the University has taken this significant step keeping in view of the need of urban management. In the recent times, development and globalization has expanded our cities rapidly, which, in turn, has resulted in the demand for urban management.
Rajiv Seth, Registrar and Professor of Finance, TERI University, informed that there is dearth of qualified management team to monitor the urban growth and development which has subsequently led to a negative affect on the growth of the nation. The University has launched the new MBA programme with the aim of producing qualified management team endowed with skills and acumen to manage all adverse conditions so as to maintain the growth rate of India.
MBA in Urban Management programme will be offered in four semesters, comprising of the study of managerial economics, urban policies, urban legislation, municipal accounting and financial management, project development, management and financing and SEZ and township development. As per sources, well-experienced teaching staff of the University and stalwarts from other management and consultancy with related extensive knowledge will guide the aspirants to transform them into skilled professionals.
Seth further added that the University has a placement cell for assisting students in order to place them into renowned organizations. Furthermore, on completion of the course, students will be able to join government organizations and private sector firms engaged in urban and real estate development and management.
Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 55% marks are eligible to apply through GMAT / CAT / MAT. In addition, they must have studied English subject at least up to 10+2 level. Candidates will be short-listed on the basis of entrance test score and selected after Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) sessions.
