JMI to Hold an International Summer School

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia will hold an International Summer School from June 16 to July 26, 2013. The University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, will offer six week long programme in two phases. In the first four weeks, students will study Political Science, History, Sociology and Economics of India. In the remaining two weeks, seminars and conferences will be organized where students will watch documentaries, films and interact with the experts.
 
Nisar-Ul-Haq, Coordinator, Department of Tourism, Jamia Millia Islamia, has said that India has a rich culture and it should be promoted in such a way so as the whole world could understand the legacy of this beautiful country. He further added that through this programme, the University is expected to instill an appreciation among participants about India and its role in the 21st Century.
 
Moreover, participants will also get to learn beginner’s level Hindi language and go for trips to Agra Jaipur and other most visited tourist palces, apart from volunteering with Ritanjali, an NGO, which works on Community Development. The programme is open for everyone and Universities can nominate their students for participating in it.
 
Mr Haq has also said that the University will award a scholarship to the students who have excellent academic records and have demonstrated the ability to understand and respect different cultures. The scholarship will cover the entire programme fee. Lodging and fooding arrangements for the participants have been made by the University at its hostel.
 

Indian nationals under the age of 25 years can apply for the programme. The University has started the admission process and students are advised to enroll as soon as possible because there are only 70 seats for the programme.
