New Delhi: Maitreyi College, affiliated to Delhi University (DU), will be the single institute under DU’s umbrella to offer a Postgraduate (PG) Diploma in Nanotechnology Programme, from the upcoming 2010 academic session. The forms would be available from May 20 and the last date for submission of forms is June 21.
Initially, the programme was started as a short-term course under UGC’s ‘Innovative Programme - Teaching and Research in Interdisciplinary and Emerging Areas.’ Later on, the diploma programme has been approved by the Executive Council of DU. The total number of seats available for the programme is 30 and the fees for the entire programme is Rs 10000.
The minimum eligibility prescribed is that candidates must have 50% aggregate in any of these courses – B Sc (H) botany / chemistry/electronics/ physics /zoology; BSc (Programme) life sciences/ applied life sciences /physical sciences/applied physical sciences/electronics; B Tech and B Sc (General) with relevant subjects.
Interested candidates can obtain the application forms from the college office on payment of Rs 100 in cash or by DD drawn in favour of Principal, Maitreyi College payable at New Delhi on all working days from 10 am to 1 pm. Application forms can also be downloaded from the website (maitreyi.du.ac.in).
The completed application forms along with the requisite fee of Rs 100, and self-attested copies of all the certificates, should reach the college office on or before June 21. Ramesh Kumari Satija, Deputy Co-Ordinator for the course, has informed that the course is also open for boys. She also added that the college will also conduct an aptitude test for students on June 30, since the total number of seats is limited.
