Delhi University (DU) to Add New College Shortly

New Delhi: With the proposed transformation of Delhi University's (DU) Deshbandhu College (Evening) into Ramanujan College, the university is all set to welcome a new institution under its umbrella. The new institution will impart education in the fields of mathematics, business studies and information technology.

Deshbandhu College (Evening) Principal Dr. S.P. Aggarwal announced that the new institution will be fully equipped to cater to the educational needs of aspirants, in the next two years.

The suggestion of splitting the morning and evening colleges got a nod in DU Executive Council meeting, which was organized last December.

Dr. Aggarwal added that the new college will be spread over seven acres of land within the campus area of Deshbandhu College, which comprises of total 17.46 acres of land.

Worsened condition of Deshbandhu College because of working in both the shifts resulted in the proposal of new college. Dr. Aggarwal revealed that the infrastructure used by both the morning and evening colleges were common. Even the timings of both the shifts collapsed with each other and the centre of concern was the issue of maintenance.

Moreover, the management of both morning and evening shift always remained indecisive about maintenance, which usually resulted in chaos. The decision of separation was taken in order to avoid all such unwanted circumstances.
