DU Offers Last Chance of Enrollment to OBC Candidates

New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) affiliated colleges are offering the OBC category aspirants with last chance of enrollment, for the ensuing session. With the fifth cut-off list, DU affiliated colleges will close their admissions process. Thereafter, all the colleges will be looking forward to accommodate students from other reserved categories as well as the general category for every seat allotted to OBC admissions that lies vacant.

Ujjaini Ray, a media coordinator from Lady Sri Ram (LSR) College, said that the fifth cut-off list is the only option for other backward classes (OBC) candidates to seek admission in DU. She also mentioned that once admissions get closed, the university will provide them with a list of students belonging to other categories such as the Kashmiri migrants quota, physically handicapped and war widows quota.

In the fourth cut-off list, a dip of 10 % for students belonging to the OBC category has been witnessed in colleges such as Hindu College, Kamla Nehru, LSR, and Hansraj. For courses such as history, mathematics, philosophy, psychology and political science admissions will be possible for students who have scored between 61-85%.

Furthermore, Ray has also added that the idea is to encourage the enrollment of larger number of OBC category students. However, as per the trend B Com (Honours) and Economics (Honours) seats are likely to be filled up first, while other subjects such as psychology and political science are likely to face less rush. Therefore, this phase must be taken as a warning for OBC students who have not applied for admissions yet.
